I am offering an English-language TRE® (Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises) basic course.
This course is intended for beginners, but it is also suitable for those who want to review the basics of TRE. This is especially recommended if your practice has not been regular or if it has been a while since your last course. The course is limited to eight participants to ensure individual guidance and a sense of safety. The minimum number of participants is three.
Course Content: During the training, we will cover the basics that participants need to consider when starting TRE practice and you will experience how TRE feels in your body. During the course, you will learn to practice TRE safely as a self-care method. The course does not qualify you to instruct TRE to others.
Instructor: Tiina Sotkasiira became a certified TRE Provider® in 2020 and has been practicing TRE for over five years. She guides individuals and groups through her company, Tutkiva ote, based in Joensuu (www.tutkivaote.fi). Sotkasiira holds a PhD in Social Sciences and works as a work supervisor with a body-oriented approach (STOry). She has pedagogical qualifications for adult education. Sotkasiira specializes in guiding TRE practice to release physical tensions and regulate stress. She works as an associate professor at the University of Eastern Finland, continuously acquiring new, researched knowledge about TRE and body-oriented methods.
Client testimonial: “For me, someone who works with the mind, the body has always been secondary to the mind. In TRE, the situation is different; the body takes control and relaxes not only the body but also the mind. This is especially confusing at first, but in Tiina’s TRE practice, you feel safe – in such expert and gentle guidance, you can let go and allow the relaxing tremor to come.”
Prerequisites: The training requires normal physical and mental health that allows for physical exercise, and group practice. TRE is not suitable immediately after surgeries or serious illnesses, such as heart attacks or cancer surgeries/diagnoses, for those with epilepsy, or those suffering from psychosis or schizophrenia. TRE is not recommended for pregnant people. If you are unsure about participating in the course for health reasons, please discuss it with a healthcare professional. You can also contact me to discuss the suitability of the practice for you. Participants are not insured by the organizer.
Invoicing and Cancellation Policy: Invoicing will be done via email after registration. If a participant cancels after the registration period, the full course fee will be charged. The reserved spot can be transferred to a friend. Registered participants will receive an email with the invoice for the course and more detailed information about the event.
After the course, you can continue practicing TRE safely at home. Alternatively, you can join the Finnish-language evening TRE group which starts 23.10. This way it will be safe for non-Finnish speakers to participate Finnish-language TRE activities when you know that you have covered the basics in English.
PS. TRE® is a physical self-help practice that will support anybody who is stressed, has physical tension and help those with symptoms resulting from trauma feel better. As I am not a health care professional, I do not do trauma specific guidance. My guidance is intended for those who wish to befriend their nervous system and learn to regulate their states of arousal by activating the mechanism of shaking or vibrating that releases muscular tension, calming down the nervous system. If you have any questions or you wish you discuss the suitability of TRE, please get in touch.
